Named by Architectural Digest as one of the “20 Greatest Designers of All Time,” Michael Taylor is considered the godfather of the California Look. In the 1970s, his signature style featured airy rooms, natural light, grandly scaled furnishings, and a mix of the rustic and refined – all groundbreaking concepts. He was the first designer to bring the outdoors in, and considered comfort as essential as beauty.

Today, more than 50 years later, RH celebrates Taylor’s enduring influence as a visionary, designer and tastemaker. Few have shaped American interiors, and the furnishings within, as profoundly as he did. Our deep respect for his body of work led us to acquire Michael Taylor Designs, and in doing so we honor his archive and bring his creations to a wider global audience as part of the new RH Estates collection.
